Project Intern: My Day 5 In Chengdu| 1 min read

It was a normal day interning at my host company. Until that lunch, I met a very nice man named Zao Jang who kindly took me to a luxurious Chinese restaurant, accompanied by his wife. I didn’t realise who he really was until I got out of his new model Mercedes Benz car.

He was the main investor of the company and is currently building luxury service apartments, 5-star hotels and shopping malls in Nairobi. He also owns the office building I am currently interning at and he wants my help on sourcing some management for his hotels in Nairobi. Nothing much, just probably the richest hand I’ve ever shaken.

Back to the lunch I had at the food eatery, I had a chance to try various types of local food including very tasty fish, Chinese ‘hamburgers’ which are essentially sweet filled white donuts, some chicken feet (very odd, but not repulsive), some odd cold spicy noodles, jelly styled radish (not nice) and some mixed fried vegetables.

Today started off as a very ordinary day until I met this guy. Overall, it made my time in China a little bit extraordinary.
