“if You Want The Things You’ve Never Had, You Have To Do The Things You’ve Never Done”| 2 min read

Welcome to China.

After a long first day in the classroom, the interns gathered for dinner outside their dormitory chatting and mingling. Talking about the first day of school in China, what they had learnt and how they were going to use it in 4 weeks time!

Arriving at the restaurant the interns soon took to their tables and were officially welcomed to China by program coordinator James. James gave a brief speech about ImmerQi and Teach and Travel China then handed the mic over to operations director Solaro Chan. Solaro raised his glass to the interns and toasted to their future and let the evening begin.

The food was brought out in abundance and the interns, chopsticks at the ready, dug in! Having officially been welcomed into China and the Teach and Travel China program the interns feasted “family style”! Sampling a little of the many dishes including the famous Peking Duck! On all tables there were many curious faces as each dish was brought out and after Wangfujing’s snack street adventure the interns were cautious of the local cuisine!

With dinner nearly over James then took to the stage once more to introduce two former interns to the stage to talk about their experience of China and the Teach and Travel China program. The first to the stage was the very difficult to pronounce Przemysław Drapikowski, known to his friends as Przemek!! Przemek took the mic and gave a nice talk about his experience in China and how he has spent 5 years in China. Next to the stage was an intern from the previous semester Mike Lopez who gave a very inspirational speech about how his time in China has enriched his life beyond his expectations!

Stuffed and bloated, the interns had eaten so much food and even sampled a few bottles of the local píjiǔ! The interns were still feeling lifted from the inspirational words they had heard earlier they made their way from the restaurant back to their dorm rooms for some well deserved rest. Ready to do another full day in the classroom the next day, only this time with some motivational words to think about….

“If you want the things you’ve never had, you have to do the things you’ve never done”

Welcome to China.
